Highlights of this release **************************************************************************** - All SiteManager products have a Setup Assistant which guides you through the initial setup and configuration steps that are required to make the SiteManager connect to a GateManager. - SiteManager 3000 models will now signal remote connections from LinkManager by activating the OUTPUT 1 port. **************************************************************************** 2. New features and improvements. **************************************************************************** LinkManager ---------------------------------- - LinkManager GUI is updated with "Expand" option A SiteManager with more then one device agent will not show a [+] that will hide or show the attached agents. SiteManager ---------------------------------- - The new Setup Assistant greatly simplifies the task of setting up a new SiteManager, and also provides a quick overview of its current status for everyday use. The Setup Assitent automatically opens whenever you login to the SiteManager, but can be entered by clicking on the new SETUP item in the top menubar. (#4385) Various configuration pages have been reorganized to match the work-flow introduced by the Setup Assistant, and online help has also been enhanced. - SiteManager 3000 models will now signal remote connections from LinkManager by unconditionally activating the OUTPUT1 port (setting it to "ON" state). The purpose of this change is to be able to warn (e.g. by turning on a warning light) any local operators and service technicians that remote access/maintenance is in progress, and operators should be extra careful when operating or servicing the equipment. This feature has been implemented as result of new regulations for Safety of packaging machines that are currently in discussion forum, and are expected to be formalized as part of an update to the EN415 standard. (Will presumably be EN415-10) When a LinkManager is not connected, it is still possible to force the setting "ON" from the SiteManager web gui. This will enable a service technician to turn on the warning light without having to connect a LinkManager. For safety reasons it is not possible to force the setting OFF from the SiteManager Web GUI if a LinkManager is connected. Note that if you have already used OUTPUT1 for some other purpose, you will need to rewire this port before updating the SiteManager firmware. - The number of supported 3G adapter models has been increased by around 50. (#4354, #4383) - The Secomea Appliance Launcher program can now also discover and configure hardware based SiteManagers via their UPLINK interface. Device Agents ---------------------------------- - Additional device specific information may now be displayed on the detailed agent properties page (only available for some agent types). - New Generic Sniffer agent allows a fast analysis of which network protocols and ports are needed to support a device for which no vendor agent exists. The Sniffer agent is like the Generic 2-way NAT agent, i.e. it forwards all TCP, UDP, and ICMP traffic between LinkManager and the agent device, and collects relevant information about the actual TCP and UDP traffic, which can be viewed by clicking on the [Monitor] button on the agent's detailed parameters page. - New Vendor Agents: ABB PLC agent Axis IP Camera agent Comau Robotics Control Unit agent Fatek Automation Corp. serial and ethernet agents. IFM Ecomat (Serial) agent Note: LinkManager must also run firmware build 11122 (4.4) or newer for proper functioning of this agent. Please see the additional information on the agent detailed parameters page. IFM Ethernet (Modbus) agent KUKA Controller agent Mitsubishi HMI agent Note: LinkManager must run firmware build 11017 (4.3b) or newer for proper functioning of this agent. Panasonic agent (Ethernet) Siemens S5 agent - Support for Serial connection to Siemens S5 PLC Generic Serial agent - for serial devices without a specific agent - Enhanced Vendor Agents (improved operability): B&R agent now supports http protocol. (#4389) Beckhoff PLC agent has new "Access PLC via Gateway on DEV1" option. Fanuc Robotics agent now supports multiple robots. (#3925) Omron PLC agent now has support for SJ2 and CS series. **************************************************************************** 3. Bug Fixes. **************************************************************************** LinkManager ---------------------------------- - LinkManager might never start (yellow icon) in case the Windows Administrator account was member of the "Debug Users" group. (#3600) SiteManager ----------------------------------- - Import of a configuration profile via GateManager could in some cases fail, resulting in incomplete configuration, failure to reboot afterwards, and/or a lost GM connection. (#4471, #4485, #4486) - The Serial Monitor log was sometimes truncated when viewed in the SiteManager GUI. (#4505) - SiteManager 3x34 Ethernet driver update (#4269) [4.3b] A SiteManager 3x34 installed on a network with higher traffic load will eventually start loosing connectivity. - SiteManager 3129 DEV1 half duplex fix (#4349) [4.3b] Connecting the DEV1 interface to a Ethernet HUB often failed to get a link. - Fix crash for "fixed speed" on serial interface (#4268) [4.3b] Forcing the Serial Driver on the SiteManager serial interface to "Fixed speed" would crash the system and the SiteManager would keep rebooting. Please contact support@secomea.com for help fixing this problem - Ready LED on SM3000 serial (#4208) [4.3a] Sometimes (approx 1 out of 10) the Ready LED would not indicate "connected" after a reboot, even if there was a GateManager connection. - Error LED on SM2000 serial (#4200, #4207) [4.3a] If using a DNS name for the GateManager and if the DNS name was not resolved - then the Error LED would not indicate GateManager "not connected". - WEB Proxy auto search (#3372, #4227) [4.3a] The newly implemented ability for the SiteManager to automatically try to use default gateway as a web proxy including WPAD - when connecting to the GateManager, did not work as intended in some cases. - SMS-Wakeup (#4244, #4245, #4246) [4.3a] Several improvements have been made. For instance it is no longer needed to have special settings on UPLINK to ensure SMS-Wakeup functionality on UPLINK2. Please read the "Using SiteManager SMS Wakeup v2" application note before deploying the SMS Wakeup functionality in production environments. **************************************************************************** 4. Upgrade information. **************************************************************************** All Software Products ----------------------------------- - Please notice that all Software products - LinkManager, SiteManager Soft, and SiteManager PC - must be upgraded by running the corresponding Installer program using an administrator account. LinkManager 6041 ----------------------------------- - LinkManager comes with its own virtual "LinkManager Adapter" network driver, which is installed and setup by the LinkManager Installer. On Windows XP, this driver is installed silently, but on Windows Vista and Windows 7 you will have to confirm the installation of the adapter. When upgrading a LinkManager 3.7 or older, the LinkManager Installer automatically migrates all configuration and certificates from the VMware based installation. Once upgraded to 4.0 or newer, you cannot downgrade the LinkManager to an older version. - First time you start LinkManager after the upgrade (or after a new installation), you may be prompted to accept the installation of Secomea's CA certificate as a trusted root certificate. You should allow this to prevent Windows from looking for new COM port drivers (it won't find any) each time you establish a serial connection. SiteManager PC 6240 ----------------------------------- - SiteManager PC comes with its own virtual "SiteManager Adapter" network driver, which is installed and setup by the SiteManager PC Installer. On Windows XP, this driver is installed silently, but on Windows Vista and Windows 7 you will have to confirm the installation of the adapter. SiteManager Soft 6040 ----------------------------------- - SiteManager Soft requires VMware to operate, also after the update. - To upgrade an existing SiteManager Soft, you must run the SiteManager Soft Installer program. Just upgrading the firmware file is not possible, as the firmware file id for SiteManager Soft has changed from v40 to v6040. SiteManager 2xxx ----------------------------------- - Due to changes to the flash memory handling on SiteManager 2xxx, it is only possible to downgrade from this firmware release to a firmware release 4.1 build 9454 or newer. Device Agents ----------------------------------- - Previously installed standard agents are automatically removed when you upgrade to this firmware which includes all of the standard agents. - This means that you will need to reinstall the agents if you downgrade to a firmware release older than 4.0. **************************************************************************** 5. Known issues or limitations **************************************************************************** - Due to new restrictions on secure web-site certificate authentication, Internet Explorer 7, Firefox 3, or newer may prevent you from accessing https based services via the LinkManager's Go To Appliance functionality in the non-activated state (Domain view). This is because the Go To Appliance function uses a different IP address than the actual IP address of the remote device, so the browser suspects that the target device's certificate (typically self-signed) may be a forgery. There is no easy way to get around this problem, so you will have to follow the somewhat tedious procedure of your browser to bypass the warnings and connect to the device anyway. Note: You should not store the certificate permanently in Firefox 3. - SiteManager Soft currently does not run as a service under Windows 7 64 bit OS. Instead it must be started in User mode, by adding it to the Startup folder. - Please note that using the PPI option require optimal bandwidth for both the LinkManager and the SiteManager. This is due to the PPI protocol and Step7 software per design does not take into account the delays (latency) that may occur when relaying the communication over long distances. **************************************************************************** 6.
