Highlights of this release **************************************************************************** - Support for GateManager 5.0. - New SiteManager 1039 and 3239 models with integrated 3G interface. - Support for remote access to USB devices. **************************************************************************** 2. New features and improvements **************************************************************************** - When connected to a GateManager 5.0 server, a TLS handshake that is more compliant with the standards will now be used, reducing the risk of getting blocked by a strict firewall. (#4572) - The connection to GateManager can now be established via a NTLM proxy using NTLMv2 authentication. (#3797, #4827) - On LinkManager, web proxy configuration is no longer tied to a specific GateManager connection (or certificate), but instead shown directly on the login page. This is because web proxy settings typically depend on the location of the LinkManager user, not on the GateManager address. (#4786, #4928) - You can now specify a WPAD URL directly in the web proxy address field. (#4786, #4832) - Add support for a number of additional 3G modems. (#4735, #4737, #4837) - On SiteManagers with SMS wakeup enabled, it is no longer necessary to configure the phone number of the operator's SMS Service Center in order to send an acknowledgement SMS, provided the phone number is stored in the SIM card already. - SiteManagers with USB port now has support for a number of USB devices (PLCs, HMIs, adapters) to be used remotely by LinkManager 5.0 users as if the device was plugged directly into their PC. (#4824, #4835) - In most cases, it is no longer strictly necessary to configure an APN when using a 3G modem. A list of known APNs for every known ISP is now included in the firmware; based on the inserted SIM card, this list will be looked up to find a set of potential APNs, which will be tried in turn until one of them succeeds. (#4840) - New Ethernet / Serial vendor agents: - Bihl+Wiedemann Ethernet - Hakko HMI - Hirschmann Ethernet - IMO PLC and HMI (Ethernet and Serial) - Pilz PNOZ (Serial) - SEW Inverter (#4853, #4869, #4457, #4579, #4875, #5026) - New USB vendor agents: - Allen-Bradley USB PLCs (various models) - Control Techniques USB-Serial adapter - Mitsubishi USB PLCs and Adapters (various models) - Omron USB PLCs abd HMIs (various models) - Pro-face USB HMIs and Adapters (various models) - Rockwell USB PLCs (various models) - Schneider Electric USB PLCs (various models) - Siemens USB Adapter (#4824, #4835) - FTP support has been added to B&R and Beckhoff agents. (#4748, #4577) - ABB Robot agents now support a wider range of robots. - All agents with http support can now be configured to allow access from GateManager Console. (#4389) - The default number of concurrent connections on custom http agents has been increased from 5 to 10. (#4912) - The GateManager connection watchdog will now refrain from rebooting as long as a GUI session is active. In addition, if no GUI sessions are active, it will trigger sooner (1 hour vs 2 hours previously) to reduce downtime. (#4840) - Hardware SiteManagers (except 3034 and 3134) will now show a graph over load on UPLINK interfaces during the last 30 minutes. (#5000) - It is now possible to run LinkManager inside VMware (in addition to VirtualBox, Virtual PC / XP Mode, and Parallels) provided the host machine is running 64-bit Windows 7 with hardware VT-x support. Note that in this scenario, LinkManager will only function for applications inside the guest VM, not for applications on the host machine. - On Windows XP running LinkManager or SiteManager PC, the notification icon in the task bar about "disconnected cable" on the LinkManager/SiteManager Adapter will now be suppressed while LinkManager/SiteManager is stopped. (#3243) - Cosmetic GUI improvements, online help typo fixes, and other error/log message modifications in various parts of the system. **************************************************************************** 3. Bug Fixes. **************************************************************************** - SiteManagers with a 3G modem could occasionally hang during boot due to failures in the low level USB drivers. - SiteManager 1029 and 3229 could occasionally hang on warm reboot due to a failure in the DRAM controller initialization code. (#4776) - SiteManager 3034 and 3134 could occasionally become unstable and start to lose network connectivity until a reboot was performed. (#3929, #4729) - A break signal on the serial port of SiteManager 3034 and 3134 could potentially get mishandled, and in worst case cause a reboot. - If a watchdog reboot was triggered while a reboot (eg. a manually initiated reboot) was already in progress, a deadlock could occur, resulting in no reboot being performed at all. (#4823) - Under rare conditions, a crash could occur in the ACM (GateManager connection handler) process. (#4747, #4842, #4861) - DCD handling did not work correctly on SiteManager 1029 and 3229 when operating in DCE serial driver mode. (#4870) - Static server relays and scada/forwarding agents could stop working while a LinkManager was connected. (#4749) - The forwarding agent could sometimes fail to setup any rules if an interface was slow to become operational. (#5016) - When LinkManager was connected to an agent, CPU utilization would jump to 100% by pinging the agent's IP address. (#4926) - The "Toggle File/Clipboard Import" icon on the Maintenance > Import page did not work correctly with some browsers. (#4781) - SiteManagers could stop replying to Appliance Launcher on the UPLINK port in case the UPLINK address had changed since boot. - SiteManager 3034 and 3134 were sometimes too slow in responding to Appliance Launcher, making AL 4.4 report errors. Fixed both in this firmware release and in AL 5.0 (updating either fixes the problem). (#4952) - The GateManager connection watchdog function was not started unless a GM connection had been established at least once, and it wasn't restarted on all relevant events (config changes, IN1 toggle). (#4956) - The connection establishment to GateManager could stall in case packets were lost during the handshake. (#4970) - Serial connections did not always work properly when 2 stopbits were used. (#4579, #4585) - When running LinkManager inside a Virtual PC VM, CPU utilization could jump to 100% due to a timing issue. (#5002) - When using a virtual COM port in LinkManager, the PC could in rare cases crash with a Blue Screen of Death (BSOD). (#4561) - On LinkManager, a "VBoxHeadless" crash could occasionally occur, especially if the connection to a remote device was abruptly terminated while it was in active use by an application. (#4690) - On SiteManager Soft, the Net Type option can not be changed between NAT and Bridged mode while SiteManager Soft is started. Previously the change would be silently ignored; an information message will now be shown, notifying the user to stop SM Soft and redo the change. (#4817) **************************************************************************** 4. Upgrade information. **************************************************************************** SiteManager hardware products ----------------------------------- - The former Omron USB-Serial agent has been replaced by a proper USB agent. If you previously used this agent, note that you will need to upgrade LinkManager too in order to get proper USB support. In addition, you need to install the Omron USB driver on the PC and reconfigure CX-Programmer to use that instead of the virtual COM port that was used with the agent in release 4.5. Software Products ----------------------------------- - Please notice that all Software products - LinkManager, SiteManager Soft, and SiteManager PC - must be upgraded by running the corresponding Setup program using an administrator account. Except for SiteManager Soft, you must use the Setup program corresponding to the Windows architecture (32 or 64 bit). - LinkManager and SiteManager PC come with a set of Windows drivers that will be installed or upgraded when running the Setup program. You may have to confirm the installation of these drivers. - First time you start LinkManager after the upgrade (or after a new installation), you may be prompted to accept the installation of Secomea's CA certificate as a trusted root certificate. You should allow this to prevent Windows from looking for new drivers on the Windows Update site each time you establish a serial or USB connection. - SiteManager Soft requires VMware to operate, also after the update. **************************************************************************** 5. Known issues or limitations **************************************************************************** - Due to new restrictions on secure web-site certificate authentication, Internet Explorer 7, Firefox 3, or newer may prevent you from accessing https based services via the LinkManager's Go To Appliance functionality in the non-activated state (Domain view). This is because the Go To Appliance function uses a different IP address than the actual IP address of the remote device, so the browser suspects that the target device's certificate (typically self-signed) may be a forgery. There is no easy way to get around this problem, so you will have to follow the somewhat tedious procedure of your browser to bypass the warnings and connect to the device anyway. Note: You should not store the certificate permanently in Firefox. - SiteManager Soft currently does not run as a service under Windows 7 64 bit OS. Instead it must be started in User mode, by adding it to the Startup folder. - Please note that using the PPI option require optimal bandwidth for both the LinkManager and the SiteManager. This is due to the PPI protocol and Step7 software per design does not take into account the delays (latency) that may occur when relaying the communication over long distances. - Even though it is possible to configure multiple USB agents on a given SiteManager, it is currently not possible to connect to more than one at a time from a given LinkManager. This means that if multiple USB agents exist on a SiteManager, you should *not* use . This limitation will be resolved in a future LinkManager version. **************************************************************************** 6.
