All rights reserved. **************************************************************************** **************************************************************************** Scope and production information **************************************************************************** This is Secomea Remote Device Management release 5.2 build 13094. This release note describes changes since release 5.1 build 13025. IMPORTANT NOTICE: ================= Starting with release 5.2, the SiteManager firmware file format has been extended to include digital signatures, and once updated to this revision, it is not possible to downgrade the firmware to a previous version via the SiteManager web gui, as older SiteManager firmware files do not have the required digital signatures. If - for some reason - you need to downgrade to an older firmware without the required digital signatures, you can use the "Upgrade firmware" command in the GateManager portal. LinkManager Mobile software is released as part of the GateManager server, and is not covered by this release note. **************************************************************************** 1. Highlights of this release **************************************************************************** - Improved UDP broadcast support between LinkManager and SiteManager. **************************************************************************** 2. New features and improvements **************************************************************************** LinkManager ------------------------------ - Various enhancements to support UDP broadcasts on Windows XP and 7. (#5476, #5544) - LinkManager Virtual COM port now appears as a real COM port to programs. - Virtual COM port driver is now loaded just once on first use. - Optimized remote USB port handling. SiteManager ------------------------------ - Various enhancements to support UDP broadcasts. (#5544) - New "/READ/NEXT" and AT+CMGL="NEXT" commands for reading just one unread SMS message at a time (if any). (#5541) - Ignore http:// and similar protocol prefixes if entered in the GateManager address field. - The browser no longer offers to save username/password when saving a configuration page including a password field (#5426) Device Agents ------------------------------ - The Custom > PC agent now facilitates using non-standard ports for the supported services; e.g. to use port 5610 for the vnc service, use parameter vnc=5610 (#5503) - Device agents now have a "Custom Settings" field which may specify optional parameters which are not represented by a "standard option" field. - New Device Agents: - Delta Electronics > USB - Fatek > USB - IDEC > USB - Kollmorgen > Ethernet - Omron MX2 Inverter is now recognized (USB) - Omron NQ HMI is now recognized (USB) - Pepperl+Fuchs > Ethernet, Serial, and USB - Pro-Face > USB HMI - Sick > USB Adapter - Siemens > Q80 Power Quality Recorder (#5476) - Weintek > USB HMI - Updated Device Agents: - B&R > Ethernet - add Powerlink support - Exor > Ethernet - Fanuc Robotics > Ethernet - Hilscher > Netlink Gateway (#5560) - Siemens > Simatic PC Adapter USB - speed optimization - Siemens > Ethernet - new "Support KPT HMI" option. (#5506) **************************************************************************** 3. Bug Fixes. **************************************************************************** LinkManager ------------------------------ - Upgrading LinkManager sometimes (rarely) failed to update the virtual COM port driver in Windows XP. (#5517) SiteManager ------------------------------ - A configured APN is now tried more times than "auto APNs". (#5542) - Improved handling of devices with small TCP window sizes. (#4509) - SiteManager could hang under heavy network load. (#5543) This has not been observed during normal operation, but a firmware upgrade sometimes failed under heavy network load. - Fix timing issue related to the SMS via TCP functionality. (#5527) Device Agents ------------------------------ - Optional GoToAppliance services did not work from LinkManager if more than one service was selected. (#5315) - Add "Vendor:Product" field to Custom > USB agent. - Auto-subnet agent is now automatically enabled/disabled when ethernet cable is inserted or removed. (#5104). **************************************************************************** 4. Upgrade information. **************************************************************************** Software Products ----------------------------------- - Please notice that all Software products - LinkManager, SiteManager Soft, and SiteManager PC - must be upgraded by running the corresponding Setup program using an administrator account. Except for SiteManager Soft, you must use the Setup program corresponding to the Windows architecture (32 or 64 bit). - LinkManager and SiteManager PC come with a set of Windows drivers that will be installed or upgraded when running the Setup program. You may have to confirm the installation of these drivers. - First time you start LinkManager after the upgrade (or after a new installation), you may be prompted to accept the installation of Secomea's CA certificate as a trusted root certificate. You should allow this to prevent Windows from looking for new drivers on the Windows Update site each time you establish a serial or USB connection. - SiteManager Soft requires VMware to operate, also after the update. **************************************************************************** 5. Known issues or limitations **************************************************************************** The following are not specific new for this release. - Due to restrictions on secure web-site certificate authentication, Internet Explorer 7, Firefox 3, or newer may prevent you from accessing https based services via the LinkManager's Go To Appliance functionality in the non-activated state (Domain view). This is because the Go To Appliance function uses a different IP address than the actual IP address of the remote device, so the browser suspects that the target device's certificate (typically self-signed) may be a forgery. There is no easy way to get around this problem, so you will have to follow the somewhat tedious procedure of your browser to bypass the warnings and connect to the device anyway. Note: You should not store the certificate permanently in Firefox. Using Go To Appliance in GateMananger or LinkManager Mobile does not have this issue. - SiteManager Soft currently does not run as a service under Windows 7 & 8 64 bit OS. Instead it must be started in User mode, by adding it to the Startup folder. - Please note that using the PPI option require optimal bandwidth for both the LinkManager and the SiteManager. This is due to the PPI protocol and Step7 software per design does not take into account the delays (latency) that may occur when relaying the communication over long distances. - The Siemens Step5 agent require optimal bandwidth for both the LinkManager and the SiteManager. - Even though it is possible to configure multiple USB agents on a given SiteManager, it is currently not possible to connect to more than one at a time from a given LinkManager. This means that if multiple USB agents exist on a SiteManager, you should *not* use . This limitation will be resolved in a future LinkManager version. **************************************************************************** END ****************************************************************************
